Since 2005, FIRST Team 1708 has competed in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.

2018 Robot: Igor

The 2018 FRC robot for Power Up is a cube stacker with a two cube autonomous that can play on either the switch or the scale. Igor features ramps  on either side to lift alliance partners to face the boss.

The 2017 FRC robot for Steamworks is a combination gear runner and shooter robot that can hold 35 balls in the hopper to shoot in the high level boiler with 96% accuracy. Cassanova can run 3 gears per match and has a top mounted climber which reaches the launchpad in 7 seconds.

2016 Robot: Heartbreaker

The 2016 FRC robot for Stronghold is a flat form robot that can pick up "boulders" with its robotic arm and move nimbly over the obstacles on the Stronghold field.

2015 Robot: Kryptonite

The 2015 FRC robot for Recycle Rush is a tote stacker robot that can lift and move totes efficiently on the competition field.
